Envisioning California Conference, Food for Thought

The conference will explore California’s character by examining its food trends and policies through panel discussions; a celebration of the journalistic contributions on California’s food landscape; a buffet lunch catered by Amador County chef, Beth Sogaard; and keynote address by renowned author and organic farmer, Mas Masumoto. The day will wrap up with A Cornucopia of Food and Fun - A Taste of California Food Products and Ideas, which will include a cooking demonstration; a presentation by the host and producer of the TV show “California Bountiful”; a Master Gardeners demonstration; as well as several local food vendors.

Panel topics include:

  • Stewardship of the Land that Sustains Us: The Future of Farming in California;
  • California’s Farm Labor Shortages and the Impact of Immigration Reform;
  • Food Poverty in an Agriculturally Rich State: How to Address Food Access Inequities Across California; and
  • Farm to Fork: Future or Fad?
