Enjoy a celebration of local flavors with wild fruits of the region. Participants will learn to make and taste beverages from elderberry, manzanita, and other natives high in antioxidants. We will discuss the medicinal properties of native fruits, focusing on the summer element of “fire” in traditional Chinese medicine, and ways to keep the body healthy and hydrated in the heat of summer. Learn how to make a simple fermentation starter for healthy sodas and discover the tastes of our local habitat in non-alcoholic, probiotic beverages. Each class member will take home a ginger bug and recipes to get started.
