Summer in a Jar: Preserving the Tomato Harvest
Saturday, September 15 2012, 9:00am - 12:00pm
Class will be held at Soil Born Farms’ American River Ranch, 2140 Chase Drive in Rancho Cordova

As summer comes to a close, so too does the availability of flavorful local tomatoes. We will start the day choosing tomatoes fresh from the farm. Then Janet will show you how to safely and deliciously preserve them so you’ll be able to enjoy your own summer tomatoes all year long. She will cover the basics of canning and preserving and share some great recipes. We’ll make canned whole tomatoes, tomato jam, and spicy tomato salsa.
