East Sacramento Edible Garden Tours
Saturday, September 10 2011, 10:00am - 4:00pm
Soroptimist International of Sacramento, Inc. (SIS) will hold the Sacramento area's first-ever Edible Gardens Tour through home gardens in East Sacramento.

Each of the six gardens on the tour will have a different theme, some with something unique for attendees to taste:

  • Heirloom tomato tasting
  • More than 100 varieties of fruit grafted on to 40 trees
  • French intensive garden
  • Year-round kitchen garden featuring herb and grape tasting
  • Front yard edible landscape gardens
  • Music in various gardens during the day by Sacramento Symphonic Winds

Attendees will enjoy various entertainment in the gardens, have a chance to talk with Master Gardeners, and win fabulous raffle prizes.

All proceeds from the Edible Gardens Tour support local charities that benefit women and children. SIS' current service projects focus on foster youth. The California State University, Sacramento (CSUS) Guardian Scholars Program is our main charity for 2011-2012. In this program college students, who were in the foster system, mentor high school foster youth and present them with career path options.

Tickets are $20.00 in advance and $25.00 the day of the event
(children 12 and under free).
Tickets can be purchased online
,or at various locations in Sacramento — visit Soroptimist of Sacramento for the most up-to-date listing of brick-and-mortar ticket sale locations.
