Save the American River Assosication
The Sacramento County Board of Supervisors needs to hear from you RIGHT NOW.
Due to the budget crisis, the Sacramento County Regional Parks Department was dismantled in June of this year. The Department's responsibilities, projects, and day-to-day operations have been farmed out to other County departments.
In the blink of an eye, a fifty-two year tradition of building recreational opportunities and nature experiences is gone in Sacramento County.
If we don't act now, options to rescue our Regional Parks and protect the American River Parkway will be lost.
At this very moment, the Supervisors are weighing the funding and governance options for our Regional Parks, including the American River Parkway. The issue of funding is critical. The sales tax recommendation -- one tenth of one percent or one penny for every $10 -- is the way of achieving stable, permanent funding for preserving the future of our Sacramento County Regional Parks and American River Parkway.
The Supervisors need to authorize enabling legislation in order to keep the Grassroots Working Group's recommendations open for placement on the November 2012 election ballot.
If you believe Sacramento voters deserve the right to define the future of our Regional Parks, take action now:

Please tell them:
I am one of your constituents and I am asking you to authorize enabling legislation to keep all funding options under consideration to rescue our Regional Parks open for placement on the November 2012 general election ballot. I also strongly support GWG's recommendation for an independent Regional Parks District.
